Beneath the Scrubs! 🥼🩺 The theme for this year is 'Life Behind the Knife' - true to this theme, we will be having a panel of 2 surgeons and an intern (soon to be announced - you don't want to miss this!) presenting on their life in medicine and surgery. They'll share the knitty-gritty behind the scenes of surgery, from examples of their daily cases to their weekly schedule as a surgeon. You'll also see how, using the panellists' tips, a career in surgery means you can have a life too! Welcome to the Y1 Suturing Night!! This is a Y1 only into-to-suturing night, with teaching by General Surgeon Dr Ming Yew. Come on down to learn the basics of suturing, simple interrupted, horizontal and vertical mattress sutures. This is a free event, so bring your mates along for an incredible learning experience!

Welcome to CSSA's annual Beneath the Scrubs event! Pathways to Surgery will involve a panel discussion with current surgical RMOS & Registrars, who will share their medical journey and experiences beyond medical school. They'll also talk about the pathways into surgery, and what you as students need to be thinking about if a career in surgery interests you. There will be an opportunity for you to ask these experts any questions you may about vocational training and surgery itself, as well as provided dinner and time for networking!  

  Our first event of the year is finally here… CSSA would like to announce our beloved annual SUTURING MASTERCLASS is back!!! What a great way to gain some exposure to the wonderful world of surgery. Come get a crash course on the different types of sutures and even try doing it yourself. We have an amazing guest speaker coming as well (soon to be announced...) who will show you the ropes and Zamberos is provided! An event you don't wanna miss! With the final event of the year, CSSA hopes to give the clinical year students a chance to pass along their knowledge and skills to Year 1-2 students. Come along for a chance to receive some small group teaching from the surgically motivated students of years 4-5. CSSA's annual suturing masterclass is back! Ready to learn or refine your suturing skills? This is your chance to do so under guidance from Mr James Savundra (Plastic Surgeon) and team. Zambrero's will be provided on the night!  

The highly anticipated 2022 Suturing Masterclass is being held on the 20th October! Take your suturing skills to the next level with a night of suturing and Zambreros! Tickets will be capped at 60 people, with first release on the 5th October at 6pm so set your alarms. The second release will be on the 7th October at 6pm. With over an hour dedicated to suturing and a team of doctors to assist, you will not want to miss out on this event! Mr James Savundra will be leading the suturing tutorial covering techniques from the simple interrupted suture to the vertical mattress suture. If you are looking for extra practice heading into your OSCE or thinking about a career in surgery, this session will give you the guidance and time to develop some of these core skills that will impress your clinical supervisors! We will also be giving away a suturing kit to 1 lucky MDA National member to be drawn on the night so make sure to sign up if you are not yet a member!
